Airdrie thug who bit and choked ex-partner during 'frightening' attack jailed

A violent man who left his ex-partner “covered in bruises” after a brutal attack has been jailed for 18 months.

Kieran Lindsay must stay away from the woman for 10 years under a non-harassment order. Airdrie Sheriff Court heard he punched the woman “over and over”, choked her and bit her multiple times.

Lindsay, 33, admitted assault to injury and danger of life at a house in Davidson Street on April 25 last year. Annette Ward, prosecuting, said the couple’s four-year relationship had ended about a month before, reports Lanarkshire Live.

Lindsay was intoxicated when he arrived at his ex-partner’s home around 3am. She let him in but they began arguing and a “physical altercation” ensued.

Ms Ward told the court: “Lindsay grabbed the woman and compressed her neck. This resulted in her breathing being restricted.

“She grabbed a glass bottle and struck him on the head in self-defence. Lindsay then punched the woman repeatedly on the face. She says he kept doing this over and over.

“She does not know how many punches there were.”

The woman was pushed on to a bed and restrained before Lindsay began biting her toes and feet. He left the house but returned 10 minutes later and bit both sides of her face.

Lindsay left again and around 7am the victim contacted her sister. She arrived to find her “frightened and covered in bruises”.

The victim would not go to hospital but police noted bruising to her eye, cheek, jaw, neck and arms. Lindsay was the subject of two bail orders at the time.

Defence lawyer Luke O’Curry said he is now on a community payback order imposed for offences not involving his former partner.

Mr O’Curry stated: “He is not proud of his behaviour. He has struggled with mental health and addiction issues, but has been taking steps to address them.”
