St Serf’s Primary has received very positive feedback following an inspection carried out towards the end of June. Inspectors highlighted the Airdrie school’s warm and respectful relationships between staff and pupils. Children were described as polite, courteous, and proud of their school. They were also praised for showing the school’s values - especially Gospel values - through how they work and learn together. In the nursery, children were found to be curious and eager to learn. They confidently shared their ideas and opinions with each other and with trusted adults. Across the school, inspectors noted a high standard of learning and teaching. Teachers consistently showed strong practice, helping children stay motivated and make good progress in their learning. The school also received praise for its use of digital learning. Teachers were skilled in using technology to support lessons, helping children build valuable digital skills and take part in creative and meaningful learning experiences. Head teacher Martha McGuigan said: "I am delighted for our school community that the very high standard of learning and teaching has been recognised during the inspection of St Serf’s. "We have wonderful children and staff who, through their dedication and commitment, provide consistent high quality learning environment to meet the needs of our learners. "There is a real team spirit in St Serf’s and I am delighted that our strengths have been recognised." Councillor Michael McBride, convener of education, children and families, added: "I’d like to congratulate everyone at St Serf’s on their positive inspection report. "It’s clear that the school community has a shared goal in providing the very best for the pupils - well done to everyone involved." The nursery received a satisfactory grade for securing children’s progress and a weak grade for learning.
