Air Plants Ireland continues to bloom with fresh ideas

For more than a decade, Galway-based business Air Plants Ireland has been bringing something a little different to Irish homes. Founded by local designer and plant enthusiast Susi, the business began with a simple idea: to share the beauty of air plants, indoor plants that thrive without soil.

Sold through an online shop and at the bustling St Nicholas’ Market in Galway city, these unusual plants quickly found a following among gift buyers and plant lovers alike.

Over the years, Susi’s creativity has helped the business grow, leading to a new chapter under the brand DRIED @ Air Plants Ireland. Now in its second year, this venture is rooted in a flower farm on the edge of Galway city in Mincloon, where Susi grows flowers organically, harvesting them by hand and air-drying them with care. The result is a vibrant collection of dried flower arrangements, ranging from wreaths and bouquets to bridal buttonholes and hairpieces, beautiful, sustainable creations that last far beyond the season.

The innovation doesn’t stop there. One of the newest products, Botanical Sea Salt, combines organically grown edible petals with the finest sea salt, adding a splash of colour and flavour to the kitchen table. Dried edible petals are also available on their own, offering a distinctive touch for home cooks and bakers.

Air Plants Ireland continues to take commissions for weddings and events, where its bespoke dried arrangements bring a unique, natural elegance to celebrations. With sustainability, creativity and local roots at its heart, the business has flourished into one of Galway’s most charming examples of small-scale innovation.

As Susi puts it, “Love your plants and green your home.”
