Air Canada adds new international destination from Cleveland Hopkins airport

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is adding a new international connection to Montreal next spring, expanding Northeast Ohio’s global reach.
Air Canada will launch daily nonstop service between Cleveland and Montréal–Trudeau International Airport starting May 1, marking the first time in over a decade that Cleveland travelers will have direct access to Canada’s second-largest city. The route was previously served by United Airlines before it closed its Hopkins hub in 2014.
The new flights will be operated aboard 76-seat Embraer E-175 aircraft, departing Cleveland at 2:45 p.m. and arriving in Montreal at 4:23 p.m. Return flights will leave Montreal at 4:30 p.m., landing in Cleveland at 6:11 p.m.
“We are excited to welcome this new service to Montreal, further expanding the international travel options available to Northeast Ohio,” said Bryant L. Francis, director of port control. He noted the new route complements Air Canada’s existing three daily flights between Cleveland and Toronto.
Air Canada officials say the new Montreal service will enhance connectivity to a city known for its vibrant food scene, culture and sports. “With flights connecting Cleveland to Air Canada’s largest hubs in Montreal and Toronto next summer, customers will have additional convenient travel options to and from a multitude of global destinations,” said Alexandre Lefevre, vice president, network planning and scheduling.
The route will run seasonally, operating from May through October to start, according to an airline spokesman.
Montreal-Trudeau will also offer one-stop connections from Cleveland to several unique European and North African destinations, including Casablanca, Geneva, Toulouse, Palma de Mallorca, Porto, Catania, Milan, Naples and Lyon.
The new flight brings to five the total number of international routes available at Cleveland Hopkins, which also includes service to Toronto, Dublin, Cancun, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
