EXCLUSIVE: Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones, Mayor of Kingstown) has been cast as a key guest star in the FX Untitled Witness Protection pilot, with the possibility for the role to expand if the project is picked up to series.
He joins the previously announced lead cast of Alison Brie, Pablo Schreiber, Zoë Chao, Jamie Neumann and Antonella Rose.
From writers, executive producers and showrunners Hannah Fidell and Gina Welch, the project is a contemporary take on a previously unproduced script by David Chase, who was previously attached. In the Untitled Witness Protection pilot, a violent confrontation drives a high-end D.C. madam, Remy (Brie), to turn on her partner and enter witness protection in seaside Maine with her adolescent daughter.
Gillen will play Carl Milliken III, a business executive who identifies more with his workface than the military contractors he interacts with.
Schreiber will play a gun store owner who helps Remy. Rose will play Remy’s daughter, Liv. Chao plays the mom of one of Liv’s friends. Neumann plays an escort in Remy’s new town.
Fidell will direct the pilot, which, in addition to Fidell and Welch, is executive produced by Nicole Lambert for Riverain Pictures.
Gillen is best known for portraying Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish in HBO’s critically acclaimed hit Game of Thrones, Milo Sunter in Mayor of Kingstown, Mayor Thomas “Tommy” Carcetti in The Wire, and Aberama Gold in Peaky Blinders. Upcoming features include Black Noise opposite Kate Phillips and WWII thriller The Duel. Film credits include Bohemian Rhapsody, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, among many others. Gillen is repped by Greene Talent, The Coronel Group, Independent Talent Group, and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
