AHSAA Central Board upholds football tiebreaking procedure in 7A, Region 4

The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control met virtually Sunday afternoon to hear an appeal from Florence High School concerning the football tie breaking procedure applied by the AHSAA to settle the four playoff qualifying spots from Region 4. Sparkman, James Clemens, Austin and Florence all finished with identical 5-2 records in region play. Through its tiebreaking procedure, the AHSAA ruled that would be the exact order of qualifying teams, meaning Austin and Florence would travel to South Alabama for first-round games this weekend.
