Agencies Host Nordic Tour Operators in Bid to Boost Visitors from Denmark, Norway & Finland

Ten tour operators from Denmark, Finland and Norway have been visiting Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland. The visiting tour operators are important partners for Tourism Ireland, bringing valuable visitors from the Nordic countries to Ireland each year. Tourism Ireland aims to familiarise them with the country’s superb tourism offering, to ensure Ireland continues to feature prominently in their future programmes. The tour operators’ busy itinerary included a walking tour of Westport, the National Museum of Ireland at Turlough Park, as well as the National Surf Centre and WB Yeats’ grave at Drumcliffe in Sligo. The group also enjoyed seaweed foraging with Prannie Rhatigan’s Irish Seaweed Kitchen, a sheepdog demonstration with Atlantic Sheepdogs and an evening of traditional music and dance at The Merry Ploughboy in Dublin. Sarah Dee, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of Nordic tour operators to experience Ireland first-hand. Seeing is believing – and our aim is that when they return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland.”
