Overcoming Early Challenges in Nimbi​, Today’s story revolves around Divya Tanwar, whose diligent efforts earned her a position as an Indian Administrative Officer (IAS). Hailing from Nimbi, a small village in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district, Divya’s life was full of challenges. At a very young age (in 2011), she lost her father, which took a toll on her family’s mental and financial well-being. With no one to support them, Divya’s mother started working as a farm labourer and tailor to provide for her four children. ​Education Despite Financial Struggles​, Divya’s mother ensured that financial difficulties never became a hurdle in their education. Tanwar began her educational journey at the village’s government school. Her tireless efforts and hard work earned her admission to the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV). After completing her graduation in science, she fully devoted herself to preparing for the UPSC CSE. ​​Choosing Self-Study Over Coaching​, Sidelining the coaching culture, Divya opted for self-study and relied heavily on online classes, test series, and mock exams to qualify.​ , ​First UPSC Attempt: Young IAS Officer​, In 2021, she appeared for the exam for the first time. She scored a total of 751 marks in the written exam and 179 marks in the interview, achieving a combined total of 930 marks in her first attempt. Her remarkable performance secured her an All India Rank (AIR) of 438. At the tender age of 21, she became one of the youngest IAS officers in the country. ​Second Attempt Success and IPS Cadre, Determined to become an IPS officer, she reappeared for the exam in 2022 and achieved 834 marks in the written exam and 160 marks in the interview, totaling 994 marks. This time, she secured an All India Rank of 105 and was set to become an IPS officer. Now that Divya has realised her dream, she is serving in the Manipur cadre. Her journey inspires us to remain consistent and determined in order to achieve our own dreams.
