Seven Network’s coverage of the 2025 AFL Grand Final has become the most watched program of 2025, reaching 6.1 million Aussies across Seven and 7plus Sport.
This figure also represents the highest rated grand final since 2016.
On Saturday, a total of 4.08 million TV viewers saw Brisbane lift the premiership cup in their clash against Geelong, with 969,00 tuning in via live stream — the latter marking a 48 per cent rise from 2024.
Viewers chose not to switch off for Saturday’s post-match presentations, with 5.46 million catching the Lions’ jubilant celebrations.
Seven’s Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, was proud to see Aussies engage with the game in such numbers.
“Following record breaking audiences, once again Australian football has solidified itself as Australia’s favourite winter sport and we couldn’t be prouder to broadcast every minute of the 2025 AFL Grand Final live, free and exclusively on Seven and 7plus,” he said.
Seven Network Director of Sport, Chris Jones, was equally thrilled to have delivered the “biggest and best moments” from the day, and encouraged Aussies to get excited about the remainder of 2025’s sports calendar.
“As we look ahead to an epic upcoming spring and summer of sport, headlined by the Bathurst 1000, the spring racing carnival, a mega AFL Women’s season and the most anticipated Summer of Cricket in recent memory, Australian viewers are covered all year round, with the best live and free sport available right here on Seven and 7plus Sport,” Mr Jones said.
Seven’s AFL coverage reached 17.4 million viewers throughout the 2025 season.
