A+E Global Media has named Tegna exec Brian Weiss executive vice president of strategy and business development for its global content sales team.
Per a release issued by the company Monday announcing Weiss’ appointment, the exec “will shape growth strategy and business development across linear, digital, FAST, and emerging platforms. Partnering with the heads of A+E’s Global Content Sales, FAST, and International teams, he will vet new ventures, build investment cases, and unlock value from A+E’s content library and distribution pipeline.”
Additionally, Weiss will be the company’s liaison on finance, research and technology, leading the deployment of automation and AI, among other areas of innovation.
In his new role, Weiss will report directly to A+E Global president of global content licensing and international Steve MacDonald.
Most recently, Weiss was vice president of entertainment programming and networks at Tegna, where he oversaw channels includingTrue Crime Network, Quest and Twist, as well as the Vault Studios originals division, Tegna’s syndicated programming and several OTT projects.
Previously, Weiss was president and general manager at Cooper Holdings and part of the original management team that developed and launched Justice Network (2015) and Quest (2018) ahead of their acquisition by Tegna.
