“I can say that things are going well in the renewables sector. There are always areas to improve, and we must get used to the idea that a perfect world does not exist. Blockages and challenges may appear, but these are situations we need to solve.
So far, we have managed to meet our growth targets—we started with 600 MW, now we are at 1,300 MW, and we hope to reach the target of 2,000 MW by the end of 2026. The projects we currently have in an advanced stage will help us reach this target without major difficulties,” said Adrian Dugulan, Managing Director of PPC Renewables Romania, at the Green Energy Conference, organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
Key statements:
We need to look at renewable energy investments in a much more sustainable way—investments that grow alongside the needs of the economy and customers, so that we can generate not only revenues for the company, but also value for this entire complex ecosystem.
We are in a phase where renewable energy is proving it can be self-sustaining, where investments in green energy are a decision on the same level as any other business investment. Making an investment decision in renewable energy is now a day-by-day business.
All companies need diversification and investments in energy storage capacity. We believe this is not a unilateral effort, where we look at these investments only from the individual perspective of one company, but rather we must understand how the energy system will be impacted as a whole. To strengthen the energy system, we need an integrated vision.
PPC Renewables Romania produces wind, solar, and hydropower energy used by residential customers, companies, and institutions across the country.
Currently, the company operates with a total installed capacity of over 1,330 MW from wind, photovoltaic, and hydropower plants, of which 1,183 MW are from wind farms, 125.99 MW from photovoltaic plants, and 22.351 MW from hydropower plants.
PPC Renewables Romania was established following the acquisition of Enel Green Power Romania’s assets (a company founded in 2007) by Public Power Corporation (PPC) in October 2023.
