Adom TV wins Best Akan TV Station of the Year at 29th GJA Awards

Adom TV, a prominent brand of The Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), has been crowned the Best Akan TV Station of the Year at the prestigious 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards. The honour, presented on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, affirms Adom TV's leadership in providing compelling, high-quality, and influential Akan-language content across Ghana’s television landscape. Adom TV's victory underscores the widespread dominance and strategic linguistic diversity of The Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), Ghana's largest independent media conglomerate. Adom TV’s success is built on its deep penetration into urban and rural markets, delivering popular programmes—from news and current affairs to compelling local drama and entertainment—that resonate directly with the Akan-speaking majority. The station plays a crucial role in making critical national discussions accessible to the masses. MGL was a key winner on the night, with its media platforms collectively securing numerous institutional and individual accolades. The 29th GJA Awards, held under the distinguished patronage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was a significant milestone, being the first time the event was hosted outside the capital, Accra. The ceremony focused on the theme: "Safeguarding Ghana's future: The role of the media in promoting peace, security and the fight against galamsey." Adom TV's recognition not only celebrates its success in capturing the Akan audience but also reinforces the vital necessity of local language media in fostering national dialogue and accountability. The Multimedia Group Limited swept eight awards on the night, solidifying its status as the foremost private media organisation in Ghana. Below are the awards: Best Reporting in Domestic Tourism – Anas Sabit (JoyNews) Student Journalist of the Year – Clinton Yeboah (Luv FM) Best Illegal Mining Reporting – Ohemeng Tawiah (Luv FM) Sports Journalist of the Year – Muftawu Nabila Abdulai (JoySports) Best Radio/TV Programme (Ghanaian Languages, 2024) – Ekɔsiisɛn (Asempa FM) Best Radio/TV Programme (English Language, 2024) – The Probe (JoyNews) Best Akan TV Station of the Year – Adom TV Best Radio Entertainment Programme – “Showbiz A-Z” (Joy FM)
