In a big push for short form content, Adobe and Youtube are teaming up, to make it easier and faster for creators to edit and upload their content on the platform. At MAX 2025, happening in Los Angeles, executives from both the companies took stage to announce the new Adobe Premiere mobile app, which was launched for iPhones last month, will soon have a dedicated “Create for YouTube Shorts” workspace. The new feature will let users access Adobe’s pro-grade video-editing tools directly inside the YouTube ecosystem. Creators will be able to tap an “Edit in Adobe Premiere” icon within the YouTube Shorts app, opening a streamlined editing interface that includes exclusive effects, transitions, and title presets tailored for Shorts. Inside the Premiere mobile app, the Create for YouTube Shorts section will also feature a library of ready-to-use templates. These will include day-in-the-life vlogs, travel montages and get-ready-with-me formats, amonth others. The users will also be allowed to customise these templates to create more personalised videos and then publish to YouTube Shorts with a single tap. The partnership should provide a big push to YouTube Shorts, giving it an advantage over other platforms like Instagram reels and TikTok (now banned in India). While the Premiere mobile app is free to download, access to AI-powered features like Firefly-based generative tools and auto-generated sound effects will remain part of Adobe’s paid subscription plans. Still, YouTube creators will get access to Premiere’s full editing toolkit, giving them more control and flexibility over the look and pacing of their content. Apart from this partnership, Adobe also announced a wave of new generative AI updates and tools for Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom that expand Firefly’s capabilities and bring third-party AI models into its ecosystem. Among the highlights, Photoshop’s Generative Fill now supports models from Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash and Black Forest Labs’ Flux.1 Kontext, allowing users to switch between engines for different creative outcomes. A new AI Assistant for Photoshop on the web, currently in private beta, lets users type natural-language commands such as “increase the saturation” to apply edits automatically. For Lightroom, the new Assisted Culling feature uses AI to sort and recommend the best shots from large photo collections, while the upgraded Firefly Image Model 5 delivers native 4-megapixel image generation with improved realism for human subjects. For video professionals, Adobe also introduced AI Object Mask in Premiere Pro (public beta), which automatically detects and isolates people or objects in frames, making it faster to apply effects or adjust backgrounds.
