A stunning North Lanarkshire woman came so close to being crowned Miss Great Britain and was recognised for acting and presenting talent. Jennifer Winter, from Motherwell, who won the Miss Great Britain Edinburgh title earlier this year, achieved an incredible milestone after being crowned First Runner-Up at the 80th anniversary Miss Great Britain Final held in Leicester over the weekend. In her first ever national competition, Jennifer impressed judges and audiences alike, standing out from hundreds of contestants from across the UK. The North Lanarkshire beauty captivated the stage with her confidence, warmth, and an incredible smile. Jennifer also took home the prestigious Talent Award, a fitting recognition for her background as a presenter, actor, and model. Her performance showcased not only her skill and stage presence but also the passion and professionalism that have made her a standout in the entertainment industry. Earlier this month Jennifer bravely spoke out publicly for the first time about her experience of online stalking and harassment. She said that entering Miss Great Britain transformed her life – giving her the confidence to speak openly about her past and turn pain into purpose. “For a long time, I was too scared to speak about what I went through,” Jennifer revealed.“But through Miss Great Britain, I’ve met so many brave, inspiring women who have faced their own challenges. “Hearing their stories gave me the courage to tell mine.” Jennifer was narrowly pipped to the national crown by Alice Cutler, who was crowned Miss Great Britain 2025 in what marked a historic year for the iconic competition. Jennifer said: “It was an absolute honour to represent Edinburgh on such a special anniversary for Miss Great Britain. To come away as first runner-up and win the talent award in my first national competition is beyond anything I could have dreamed of. I’m so grateful for the support I’ve had from my family, friends, and everyone back home in Scotland.” Jennifer’s achievement marks another proud moment for Scotland and cements her reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting rising talents both on and off the stage. Miss Great Britain celebrated its 80th year in spectacular style, honouring eight decades of empowering women, promoting confidence, and supporting charity through platforms like Cancer Research UK and A-Sisterhood. With £300,000 raised for Cancer Research UK it cements the hashtag of #impactoverimage *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. Sign up to our newsletters here .
