The Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT) is pleased to announce that our sustained advocacy for the full integration of the Ghana Card into the country’s financial ecosystem has been positively received and adopted by the National Identification Authority (NIA), Ghana.
In a recent announcement, the NIA confirmed plans to roll out an e-wallet feature on the Ghana Card, a groundbreaking development that will enable the card to function as an ATM card while also serving as a key instrument for advancing digital financial services nationwide.
This milestone follows months of policy engagement, thought leadership, and public advocacy led by ACDT, which emphasized the Ghana Card’s transformative potential to serve as:
A national digital identity ensuring secure verification.
A financial access tool enhancing banking and payments.
A platform for interoperability and inclusion within Ghana’s growing digital economy.
