The student union polls in Delhi University are a hotly contested affair with Aryan Mann the presidential candidate of ABVP gaining more and more support. Mann is a student of Bahadurgarh and is pursuing an MA course in Library Science and has been actively agitating on matters that directly impact students.
The broad social support is what makes his campaign stand out. The Mann family is a respected family in khap politics and his grandfather Late Shri Chand Mann was the head of Lova Saatrah Khap and his uncle Ashok Mann is the present bearer of the same. It is in light of this history that various powerful khaps have come out publicly to declare their support such as Dalal Chillar Chikara Sangwan of Dadri and Palam Khap. Hisar and other neighbouring district leaders have also followed suit and this has given his candidature weight.
Even political leaders have intervened Independent Bahadurgarh MLA Rajesh June held meetings and asked his supporters to go to Delhi University students to get their support to Mann. Leaders like former chairman Ravi Khatri and Congress-related leaders like Naresh June and Arun Khatri have gone ahead to offer their support by posting on social media. Even such civil groups as the Mahavir Mandir Society in Bahadurgarh have expressed their support.
Aryan Mann’s campaign revolves around a student-first manifesto. His pledges include concessional metro passes larger scholarships internships health insurance wellness societies and enhanced placement opportunities. He has also emphasized mental health promising to appoint counselors in colleges and create safe spaces for students under pressure.
Women’s welfare is at the forefront of his plan with proposals for sanitary pad vending machines free Wi-Fi safety apps and self-defense training. He has also promised to improve hostels provide pure drinking water promote sports with proper nutrition and equipment and digitize official information for easier access. Free AI training regional-language notes for NET preparation and special scholarships for transgender students also feature in his vision.
Support for Mann has been visible not only in khap panchayats and political circles but also on campus. From university hostels to classrooms students are openly endorsing his candidature. Alumni networks too are pitching in with Delhi University graduate Sahil Garg noting that Aryan Mann is the first candidate in years to place student welfare at the center of his campaign. As polling day nears the surge of backing suggests that ABVP’s Aryan Mann is well-positioned for a major win.
