As the Chhath Puja celebrations reached their second day on Sunday, members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spread out across Delhi’s ghats. They targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), creating a political stir. AAP Hit out BJP for creating Artificial Yamuna for Chhath Puja AAP, which is now in opposition in Delhi, claimed that an artificial ghat built by the Delhi government at Vasudev Ghat filled with filtered water just for PM Modi’s ceremonial dip. Sources shows that PM Modi expected to join the Chhath celebrations in the Capital on Monday. The BJP responded by calling the accusations “a shameful example of political frustration” and claimed that AAP was “against the cleaning of the Yamuna” before the festival. AAP’s Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj went live on ‘X’ to showcase the artificial ghat constructed near ISBT. He held a press conference where he asserted that the BJP “has built an artificial pond along the Yamuna, filled with filtered water from the Wazirabad treatment plant pipeline that supplies Delhi’s drinking water so that the Prime Minister can take a dip for the cameras.” PM Modi insult Chhath devotees Bharadwaj referred to a recent report from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), that warned that Yamuna water “can cause serious diseases even if one bathes in it.” He argued that the BJP was “risking people’s health and faith for Bihar votes.” “Prime Minister Narendra Modi always takes care of his health. Have you ever heard of him getting the flu or typhoid? That is why they made this fake river of filtered water for him, while the ghats for poor Purvanchali people are left on the real Yamuna, which is full of filth and waste. Even if Purvanchalis suffer, the BJP’s propaganda must continue,” Bharadwaj said. AAP’s top leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Atishi, also criticized the alleged “filtered-water pond” on X, calling it a “shameful insult” to devotees of Chhath Puja.
