Andhra Pradesh is set to become the first State in the country to implement the “Circular Economy and Waste Recycling Policy (4.0)” 2025–2030, which aims to turn waste into a resource and promote environmentally sustainable industrial practices, said A.P. Pollution Control Board Chairman P. Krishnaiah on Friday (October 31, 2025). He was speaking at a brainstorming session at the Anantapur Collectorate, which brought together district officials, municipal representatives, and industrialists. Mr. Krishnaiah said that the policy reflects Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of building a greener, cleaner future. “The idea is to leave a cleaner environment for the next generation,” he said, adding “through systematic recycling of industrial and municipal waste, with participation from the public, Andhra Pradesh is setting a model for the rest of the country.” He said that the initiative would also create jobs through large-scale recycling projects at the district level. District Collector O. Anand said that all municipal solid waste would be co-processed in cement kilns and stressed on the need to make Anantapur plastic-free. Under G.O. No. 149, a task force will be set up at both the State and district levels to oversee the policy’s implementation. Officials said that the move marks a major step toward a cleaner, circular economy and sustainable development, the Collector said.
