This year, 20.7 million Americans are enjoying cruise vacations, according to AAA, and in 2026 that number will jump to a record 21.7 million. In fact, it will be the fourth consecutive year of record-breaking cruise passenger volume. “These numbers reflect the growing demand for ocean cruises among U.S. travelers,” said Stacey Barber, vice president of AAA Travel, in a statement. “Our travel agents see this every day when booking dream vacations for AAA members. Whether it’s an anniversary trip to relax in the Caribbean or a family reunion to explore Alaska, ocean cruises offer variety, convenience, and lifelong memories.” Advertisement: Travelers enjoy the variety of activities and amenities on cruise ships, according to AAA, and say cruise vacations are more economical because they can visit multiple countries without booking flights and hotel rooms for each destination. As for who is cruising, AAA says 65% are adults age 55 or older, 27% are between the ages of 35-54 and 7% are between the ages of 18-34. What’s more, nearly 50% are traveling as a couple, 20% are cruising with kids, 7% are traveling solo, and the rest are going in groups.
