It’s normal for TV shows to have at least one weak episode, and this definitely includes sitcoms, but there are some rare cases in this genre where a show has no bad episodes. The genre of sitcoms is one of the most popular ones, thanks to their lightness, comedy, and relatable characters and situations. Many of the best TV shows of all time are sitcoms, but even these have some bad episodes (or an entire bad season). It’s not rare for TV shows to have some fluctuation in their quality when they have been around for a long time, and many of them recover at some point. However, there are some rare cases where a sitcom was perfect from start to finish, even if they went through some changes at some point, and thus had no bad episodes. Bob's Burgers 303 Episodes So Far Bob's Burgers is an animated sitcom created by Loren Bouchard and is currently in its 16th season. Bob's Burgers introduces the audience to the Belcher family, formed by father Bob, mother Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise. The family runs the restaurant Bob’s Burgers, located in the fictional Seymour’s Bay, New Jersey. All the Belcher children work part-time in the restaurant and attend Wagstadd School, while also going through their own struggles. Meanwhile, Bob deals with his rival Jimmy Pesto, owner of an Italian restaurant across the street. Bob’s Burgers, then, follows the Belchers’ experiences at the restaurant, with its colorful customers, and their personal adventures. Bob’s Burgers has succeeded thanks to the fun and heartwarming dynamics of the Belcher family, as well as its sense of humor, absurdity, positive representation, and well-developed characters. Bob's Burgers still has a couple more seasons to go, and, hopefully, it will continue its perfect streak. Daria 65 Episodes Daria is a teen animated sitcom created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn that ran from 1997 to 2002 for five seasons on MTV. Daria follows the title character, Daria Morgendorffer, a cynical, smart, expressionless teenager who moves to the fictional town of Lawndale with her family. At her new high school, Daria befriends Jane, an aspiring artist who shares most of Daria’s views. Daria is a spinoff of Beavis and Butt-Head. Opposite to Daria and Jane is Daria’s shallow, vain, and popular younger sister Quinn and her friends, and other colorful students at Lawndale High School. Daria stood out for its animation style, deeper and more mature themes, comedy style, intelligent humor, social commentary, and unique yet relatable characters. Each episode of Daria follows the title character through a different problem or experience, covering themes that go from mental health to love, family, and friendships, while also following an overarching plot. Daria was so well-written that it led to it having no bad episodes, and this is also why it has been so hard to reboot it. Community 110 Episodes Community was created by Dan Harmon and ran on NBC for six seasons, from 2009 to 2014. Community takes its audience into Greendale Community College in Colorado to meet a very special group of students. First is Jeff Winger (Joel McHale), a former lawyer who was suspended by the state bar for falsely claiming to have graduated from Columbia University. To earn a legitimate degree, Jeff now has to attend Greendale Community College. There, he meets Britta (Gillian Jacobs), an anarchist activist; Abed (Danny Pudi), a socially awkward film student; Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown), a divorced mother and vocal Christian; Annie (Alison Brie), a compulsive overachiever with a dependency on Adderall; and Troy (Donald Glover), a former high school football star. Also joining them are Pierce (Chevy Chase), a millionaire who wants to keep his mind active, and Ben (Ken Jeong), an unstable Spanish teacher. The many different personalities of the main characters of Community led to some truly memorable and hilarious moments, and were key to the show being consistently good from beginning to end. Schitt's Creek 80 Episodes One of the best comedies in recent years is Schitt's Creek, created by Eugene and Dan Levy. Schitt's Creek follows the wealthy Rose family, who lose their fortune after being defrauded by their business manager. As a result, as everything they had was taken away, the family moved to the title town, their sole remaining asset. The Roses now had to adjust to a completely different place, environment, dynamic, and community, often clashing with town residents. Schitt's Creek ran for six seasons, from 2015 to 2020, and was a huge critical success, earning various awards during its run and being praised for its tone, writing, performances, and more. Schitt's Creek got better with every season, and a key part of its success, along with the above-mentioned strengths, was its themes of acceptance and unconditional love. Schitt's Creek is widely regarded as a comfort show, and it's even more so as all its episodes are great. Freaks and Geeks 18 Episodes Freaks and Geeks is a teen comedy-drama show created by Paul Feig. Freaks and Geeks aired on NBC from 1999 to 2000 and for only one season, as it was unfairly canceled after only 15 out of 18 episodes aired. Freaks and Geeks takes place during the 1980-1981 school year, in the fictional town of Chippewa, Michigan. Freaks and Geeks follows siblings Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) and Sam Weir (John Francis Daley), who attend William McKinley High School. Lindsay becomes friends with the school’s group of “freaks”, formed by Daniel (James Franco), Ken (Seth Rogen), Nick (Jason Segel), and Kim (Busy Philipps). Meanwhile, Sam joins the school’s “geeks”: Neal (Samm Levine) and Bill (Martin Starr). Lindsay tries to shake off her image of an academically proficient student and “mathlete” and become a rebel as she hangs out with the slackers of the school, while Sam and the geeks simply try to survive high school. Freaks and Geeks has been praised for its realistic and relatable characters and stories, how well-written it is, its awkward humor, and the performances of its main cast. Freaks and Geeks is an underrated gem, and it could have done greater things had it not been canceled so soon. Fleabag 12 Episodes Another TV show found among the best TV shows of all time is the British comedy-drama Fleabag, created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Fleabag ran for only two seasons, airing from 2016 to 2019, and though it had a short run, it was enough to gain critical acclaim, a loyal audience, and a place in various “best” lists. Fleabag follows the title character (played by Waller-Bridge), an angry, confused, and lonely woman living in London. Fleabag does her best to navigate life and its many ups and downs, as well as some of her inner struggles, such as coping with the death of her best friend, Boo, and a strained relationship with her family. Fleabag has been praised for its writing, balance of comedy and drama, the title character’s fourth-wall breaks, its themes (such as grief, family, and identity), and for its relatable characters and stories. It had a short run, but it was a perfect one. The Good Place 53 Episodes One of the best and most acclaimed sitcoms ever, and that also happens to be perfect, is The Good Place, created by Michael Schur. The Good Place ran for four seasons, airing on NBC between 2016 and 2020, and it introduced viewers to Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), who died and woke up in the afterlife. Eleanor was taken by afterlife “architect” Michael (Ted Danson) into the Good Place, the show’s version of heaven. However, Eleanor is aware that she wasn’t a good person, and soon realizes she was mistaken for another Eleanor Shellstrop, so she doesn’t belong in the Good Place. With the help of her assigned soulmate, Chidi (William Jackson Harper), Eleanor works to become a better person and earn her place in the Good Place. The Good Place has a strong start, and it only gets increasingly better, especially after its big twist in its first season. The Good Place is a great balance between comedy, philosophy, and heavy themes, and it’s so well written that every episode is a delight, and there are no bad episodes in its four seasons.
