A Ghanaian man stirred mixed reactions after surprising his wife, who had just given birth, with not only affection but also with a bundle of cash.
In a video spotted on social media, the Ghanaian husband and now father turned the hospital ward his wife was in into a scene of celebration with GH₵1 notes raining on his wife.
The yet-to-be-identified man used this act of love to welcome the new child and also congratulate his wife following her safe delivery of their child. The video showed the man, dressed in a white shirt, standing beside his wife’s hospital bed in an undisclosed maternity ward.
Husband sprays money on wife after childbirth
Overwhelmed with pride and emotion, he scattered a substantial amount of the cash over her as a traditional gesture of celebration in many Ghanaian cultures. The wife, still recovering from childbirth, was on the bed enjoying the moment.
After spraying the money, he emotionally took her left hand and gave it a heartfelt kiss. Onlookers, including medical staff and other patients, witnessed the lovely scene, with one individual capturing the moment on a smartphone.
The video trended and stirred controversy, amassing thousands of views and hundreds of comments.

Man spraying money on wife sparks reactions
YEN.com.gh collected mixed reactions from Ghanaians who watched the trending video on X. Some of the comments are below.
@Fruity2022 said:
“So, what’s the significance of this? Can’t you do it at home? Why in an open space for everyone to see? If you want to impress, you should’ve gifted the others too to make it feel like you’re on top! You people like show-offs too much! Oh, my goodness!”
@HEISBIGM opined:
“It’s good and nice, though, but I think it shouldn’t have been done within the ward. There will obviously be other women who are in hard times and had their husbands abandon them after conceiving. Doing this in front of them would surely dim some of their joy and might make them sad.”
@Longman_Dogo wrote:
“We have succeeded in making everything about money. To show appreciation, money; to say sorry, money. It is all good, but it is not the best way.”
@Datchman14490 commented:
“As for this man, he did not do well at all. You’re making other ladies or other women over there feel jealous or feel the pain of their husband not appreciating them.”
@BarthUkwuoma said:
“This African mentality of spraying money has to stop. Africa is bigger than paper prints. There are other beautiful African resources we can use instead.”
