The Golden State Warriors are still in a stalemate with free agent forward Jonathan Kuminga. The Warriors want him to sign a team-friendly deal, while the young player wants to earn at least $30 million annually. This situation has hindered the Golden State team from addressing other pressing issues regarding their roster. Except for the Oklahoma City Thunder, they are the only team without any roster additions.
Kuminga’s situation has affected the team’s priorities this offseason. While 29 other teams have been active over the summer, the Warriors are a different story. In fact, the team even lost a player in Kevon Looney, who signed with the New Orleans Pelicans on a two-year contract.
ESPN’s Shams Charania claims that team owner Joe Lacob has been called in because of the contract dispute. Charania reported on Monday that Lacob has been involved in the negotiation since the middle of August.
“After remaining in the negotiation shadows the first six weeks of Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency, Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob emerged from behind the curtain in mid-August,” Charania wrote.
