A-7 Diversion Castillo de Baños

Work on the A-7 tunnels continues where they run through the province of Granada, expecially down the eastern end. The Ministry of Transport is improving safety features in the following tunnels: Ramoncillos, Guapa, Acebuchal and Madroño. These extra safety features are required to align with European regulations. The project has a budget of €16.260,000 (VAT included), funded by the EU through its Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (RTRP). That’s the same funding that is being used on the N-340 where it passes through Torrenueva costa, mentioned in today’s other article. This work entails closure in a section of the autovía and traffic diverted over onto the oncoming lanes, which will become single-lane flow in either direction. From today at twelve noon until Friday the 19th of December at 13.00h, this single-lane arrangement will be in force between kilometre points 868 and 872, with the eastbound lanes being used for traffic in both directions. This diversion will affect the municipalities of Castillo de Baños and La Mamola where drivers must make a U-turn at junction 873, exit at junction 855, and travel onto the N-340. To rejoin the A-7 motorway from these towns: travel towards junction 855 on the N-340 and make a U-turn. Remember where this kind of temporary arrangement exists on autovías, the maximum speed is 80 kmph and headlights must be used at all times.
