Samsung Display will soon start mass producing foldable phone screens for a North American client
That client is most likely Apple, suggesting the iPhone Fold could land next year
Thanks to earlier leaks we have a good idea of what to expect from the phone

At this point, most rumors suggest the foldable iPhone – or the iPhone Fold as it might be called – will launch next year, and now that’s looking even more likely, as a surprising source has suggested as much.

You see, according to ChosunBiz (via Phone Arena), Samsung Display’s president Lee Cheong has said that the company is preparing to mass produce foldable phone panels for a North American client.
Now, that client isn’t named, but the obvious candidate is Apple, given that the foldable iPhone is rumored to be landing next year, and given that Samsung Display already makes iPhone screens.

So this is perhaps the clearest sign yet that the iPhone Fold will indeed land in 2026, though if it does, we’d imagine it will land in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 series, so there could still be quite a wait.

Impressive features at a premium price

Whether the iPhone Fold will be worth the wait remains to be seen, but leaks and rumors have given us some idea of what to expect.
For one thing, we’ve heard that it might use Touch ID rather than Face ID, and that it could have a 24MP under-display camera, which – coupled with the lack of Face ID components – could make this the first iPhone with a truly all-screen design.
The foldable iPhone might also have a crease-free display, with this foldable screen possibly coming in at 7.74 inches and being joined by a 5.49-inch cover screen.

It might be just 4.8mm thick when unfolded, making it even thinner than the 5.6mm iPhone Air, and it could have two 48MP rear cameras – along with a selfie camera on each screen.
All of this is sure to come at a high price, and while rumors disagree on the exact price tag, the most recent we’ve heard is $1,999 (around £1,500 / AU$3,050).
So perhaps waiting until next September for the iPhone Fold isn’t such a bad thing, as it will at least give Apple fans plenty of time to get saving.
