The first four teams in The Roanoke Times high school football preseason top 10 are no longer there. Whether it’s preseason No. 1 William Fleming, which has fallen to No. 9, or Salem, the preseason No. 2 which has dropped out of the rankings entirely.
Lord Botetourt is the latest to descend, falling from No. 2 to No. 7 in the Week 6 rankings after a loss to George Washington-Danville. That’s allowed unbeaten Glenvar, Alleghany and Magna Vista to climb one spot each and now sit in the top four. North Cross and Jefferson Forest also rose one spot each to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The bottom three remains unchanged. Bubble teams are mostly the same except for James River and Parry McCluer, who have left the conversation after suffering their second losses of the year. Radford is back on the bubble after beating James River.
