Run the Crest: Run the Crest will be held Friday and Saturday at Centennial Park in Wildwood Crest. Friday’s festival will feature merchandise and craft vendors, food trucks, live music and family-friendly activities.
A 5K race will kick off the festival at 5:30 p.m. Friday, followed Saturday by a half marathon at 7:30 a.m. and a 10K at 8:30 a.m. A Crest Kids Fun Run will allow children 10 and under to run around the perimeter of the Centennial Park Festival grounds.
Register for the races at runsignup.com/runthecrest. There will be awards for the fastest teams and the largest team participation. Proceeds will benefit Amanda’s Wish, a nonprofit that seeks to help children’s programs, camp activities and youth scholarships.

AppleFest in Upper: The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township’s 24th annual AppleFest will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the John Wesley Gandy Farmstead at 26 Tyler Road.
The festival will include crafters, demonstrations, community nonprofits, live music, children’s activities and an apple pie baking contest. Parking and admission are free.
Vendor space can be reserved for $25 or free for nonprofits. To reserve a spot, text Linda Leonard at 609-827-4582 with your name and the type of craft or organization you represent. Space is scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
The pie contest will be judged at 2 p.m. with entries accepted in the Junior Division, ages 15 and under, and the Senior Division, ages 16 and up. Chef Tyson Merryman of the Tuckahoe Inn, Nick Karayiannis of Dino’s Seaville Diner and Deb Patterson of the Frog Hollow Bakery will be the senior judges for the contest this year. Festival attendees will be able to sample all of the entry pies.
Docents will be on hand in the Gandy farmhouse to describe the history of the farm as well as the various historical artifacts on display. Visitors are also welcome to walk the grounds of the farm and visit the restored 1812 barn, smoke house, root cellar, antique carriage and the working windmill.

Medicare presentation: The Cape May County Division of Aging and Disability Services will host a Medicare open enrollment presentation from 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 10 at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Cape May Court House campus.
Donna Boyle, coordinator for the Cape May County State Health Insurance Assistance Program, will provide information on upcoming changes to Medicare prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans for 2026.
The Medicare open enrollment period runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Individual consultations will not be provided during the presentation but can be scheduled with a SHIP counselor by calling 609-886-8138.
Noyes teachers’ workshop: The Noyes Museum of Art of Stockton University will hold a teachers’ workshop for New Jersey educators from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Noyes Arts Garage in Atlantic City. The workshop is designed for art teachers but can be useful for teachers across disciplines.
Leading the workshop is artist and instructor Fay Stanford. Stanford works with relief prints, having two primary methods of printmaking, woodcut and monotypes. Many of her pieces are focused on history, with her main focus being colonial-era Pennsylvania.
Workshop attendees will meet the artist, participate in a hands-on printmaking activity and go on an artist-guided tour of Stanford’s exhibit at the Arts Garage. All materials are included, as are light morning refreshments and lunch.

Lima Bean Festival: West Cape May will host its annual Lima Bean Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 in Backyard Park at 732 Broadway. The festival will include food, handmade arts and crafts, live music and a magic show.
Free parking will be available along the borough’s side streets, as will a free jitney service with pickup and drop-off locations at the festival venue, Wilbraham Park and on Park Boulevard.

O.C. chamber breakfast: The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the 2025 Legislative Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Ocean City Yacht Club, 100 Bay Road.
State Sen. Michael Testa and Assemblymen Antwan McClellan and Erik Simonsen, all R-Cape May, Cumberland, Atlantic, will address issues that affect residents in Cape May County and the state.

Boo at the Zoo: Boo at the Zoo, the Cape May County Park & Zoo’s annual Halloween celebration, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25.
Guests can come in costume and enjoy children’s games, a craft station, candy giveaways, live entertainment, a DJ, animal encounters, an inflatable obstacle course and more.
Registration for the Halloween Costume Contest will begin at 10 a.m., with the contest beginning at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded following the contest. At 12:30 p.m., a “Hocus Pocus”-inspired witch trio will perform on the center stage.
