After collapsing on stage during the All Things Go festival in Queens on September 27, British singer Lola Young canceled a second performance for the same festival series the next day. “I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this,” Young wrote on Sunday, just hours before she was set to go on stage in Washington, D.C.. “I hope you’ll all give me another chance in the future.” Before this, she canceled a performance at the We Can Survive concert on September 26 “due to a sensitive matter,” per her manager Nick Shymansky. “Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe,” Shymansky continued. “She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
Before the rising star collapsed during the song “Conceited,” she addressed her recent show cancellation. “Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here,” Young explained. “I wanted to be, I wanted to perform, and I didn’t want to wallow in my sadness. Sometimes life can throw you lemons and you just gotta motherfucking ing make lemonade.” Later in the performance, Young was seemingly signaling to another band member on stage that something was wrong before she fell. Afterwards, she thanked her fans for their concern and said that she was “doing okay now.”
