Meet Heather Perry: Publisher who loves supporting local business
Heather Perry serves as publisher and digital sales director for The Post and Courier Pee Dee. A Tennessee native who moved to South Carolina six years ago, she brings nearly 20 years of media experience to the region.
“The people are the most welcoming,” Perry said. “Every advertiser I’ve spoken with has complimented not just our journalism, but the need for it.”
What surprises her most about Florence and the surrounding area? How connected everyone is.
“It shocks me how well connected everybody is. It’s just a different feeling,” Perry said.
Her approach with local businesses is straightforward.
“We’re not just a vendor. We’re an extension of their marketing team,” Perry said. “A lot of the people we work with are just one owner who aren’t marketing experts, so we bring our team in with experts in digital marketing, social media, emails, videography, photography, public relations and more.”
Perry and her husband David have been married 23 years. They have four children: Logan, Alexis, Gavin and Kenzie, plus three grandchildren who keep life interesting. Her son, Logan, works for Southwest Airlines, which makes their love of weekend getaways much easier.
She and David enjoy spontaneous travel adventures.
“We’ll hop on an airplane and we’ll try out new destinations and be back,” she said. One of their favorite quick trips? Flying to New York just for crème brûlée.
