The Last of Us Did Not Win Any Trophies at the 2025 Emmy Awards

The Last of Us season 2 packed a punch for HBO viewers — but did it take home any trophies at the 2025 Emmy Awards?
The drama series, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, went into the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14, with three nominations across the major categories. Once the awards show came to an end, The Last of Us left with no accolades.
Despite its 13 nominations at the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which took place days before Sunday’s big show, The Last of Us came out with only one win. The show took home an Emmy in the Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour) category for the episode titled “Through the Valley.”
The highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us premiered this past April and delivered a crushing blow to fans when Pascal’s character, Joel Miller, — spoiler alert — died in the second episode.
“I’m in active denial,” Pascal, 50, told Entertainment Weekly after the episode aired. “I realize this more and more as I get older, I find myself slipping into denial that anything is over.”
He added, “I know that I’m forever bonded to so many members of the experience and just have to see them under different circumstances but never will under the circumstances of playing Joel on The Last of Us.”
Despite his character’s big death, Pascal did appear in several flashbacks throughout the duration of the season, specifically in an emotional episode titled “The Price.”
“Just to see Pedro and Bella one more time; to see their happiest they’ve ever been, maybe the saddest they’ve been with each other, and the angriest they’ve ever been,” showrunner and video game creator Neil Druckmann told The Hollywood Reporter in May. “It was such a joy to explore all those nuances along the way. I’m extremely proud of how it turned out, and I was really nervous.”
The Last of Us is set to return for an upcoming third season, but Ramsey, 21, will not be leading the franchise anymore. When the show returns, Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby will be front and center.
