Lamar Jackson is dealing with a hamstring injury that forced the quarterback to exit the game during the Baltimore Ravens’ loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. With just 56 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Ravens backup quarterback Cooper Rush mysteriously replaced Jackson.
Baltimore trailed Kansas City 30-13 at the time Jackson exited the game. Heavy Sports had a front row seat behind the Ravens bench, and Jackson’s injury woes. Jackson did not immediately look in pain, but the Ravens trainers eventually started working on the star’s legs on the sideline.
It was initially unclear if Ravens head coach John Harbaugh benched Jackson as a preventative measure to help the quarterback avoid getting injured given the sizable score difference. Baltimore insisted that Jackson is dealing with an injury that forced the quarterback to be sidelined, regardless of the score.
Heavy Sports captured the following video of Jackson limping towards midfield to shake hands with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other Kansas City players. Jackson looks noticeably hampered by the injury.

Some fans reacted with skepticism about Jackson’s injury on social media. Harbaugh insisted that Jackson’s departure had nothing to do with the lopsided score.
“There was no way he was going to go back in the game. The injury precluded it,” Harbaugh told reporters on September 29, 2025, per Pro Football Talk. “During the game, you’re really just playing the next series as a coach. But there was no way he could go back in the game. I know Lamar — if he could’ve gone back in the game, he would’ve been in the game. That’s how he is.
“But I can assure you he would not have been able to go back in the game under any circumstances.”
