Uzbekistan sees 49% jump in foreign tourists with 7.5mn visits in 8M25 - Daryo.uz

Uzbekistan has seen a sharp rise in foreign tourist arrivals in the first eight months of 2025, with 7.5mn visitors traveling to the country for tourism purposes, according to official statistics. This marks a 49.1% increase, or 2.5mn more visitors, compared with the same period last year.

The largest share of tourists came from neighboring countries, with Kyrgyzstan leading at 2.16mn visitors, followed by Kazakhstan with 1.76mn and Tajikistan with 1.7mn.

Other notable sources of visitors included Russia (663,300), Afghanistan (304,500), Turkmenistan (243,500), China (135,400), Turkey (113,100), India (42,200), and the Republic of Korea (30,000). Visitors from other countries totaled 349,800 thousand.

Beyond tourism, Uzbekistan also attracted foreign citizens for other purposes. Approximately 5.16mn people visited relatives, 837,500 came for work, 287,700 for business, 62,000 thousand for medical treatment, and 14,200 for study.

For comparison, in January-August 2024, 5.04mn foreigners visited Uzbekistan for tourism. During that period, the largest groups of visitors were from Tajikistan (1.47mn), Kyrgyzstan (1.45mn), and Kazakhstan (1.02mn).
