Central Catholic earns a high 5

Central Catholic bounced back with a 28-7 win at BC High to climb into the top five of the Globe’s Top 20 fooball poll.
Natick continues to rise after shutting out Needham, 27-0, and Bishop Feehan gets back to the No. 10 spot after a 24-12 win at Chelmsford. Scituate earned the program’s first regular-season win over Duxbury, while Mansfield and Milton scored out-of-state wins. King Philip maintained its dominance of the Hockomock League with a 21-7 win over North Attleborough.
After blanking Westfield in Week 1, Milford turned heads with a 44-26 win at Leominster, moving into our Top 20 at the No. 16 spot. Andover had an impressive debut at Wellesley, Masconomet won at Billerica, and No. 18 Methuen rolled at North Andover but lost quarterback Josh Danella to a collarbone injury.

Catholic Memorial and Xaverian, two defending champions and our top-ranked contenders, had bye weeks on the schedule, as did No. 20 Tewksbury. Records based on scores reported to the Globe.
