SANTA BARBARA — No. 7 College of the Canyons posted a fourth consecutive shutout to defeat host Santa Barbara City College 1-0 under the lights at La Playa Stadium last week.
Canyons (6-0) has allowed just two scores on the season through the SBCC game, outscoring opponents 16-6 over its first six outings.
COC goalkeeper Rebecca Ferguson (6-0) has been in net for every minute this season and recorded three saves to help the Cougars hold on down the stretch.
The game’s lone goal came in the 67th minute from sophomore Bailey Williamson, her third of the season.
The scoring play was assisted by Leila Sadra.
Williamson’s goal upped her season total to a team-best 11 points (three goals, five assists). Sadra currently ranks second on the squad with 10 points (four goals, two assists).
The win over SBCC (5-4) came in the Cougars’ final non-conference match.
COC opened its Western State Conference South Division schedule with a road trip to Glendale College on Friday.
