Another month approaches, which means another round of turnover for Microsoft’s proprietary game distribution service, Xbox Game Pass. Each month, Game Pass gets a variety of new additions, including day-one releases, overlooked classics, to expand its library and keep subscribers interested.
These new additions also mean some older games need to shuffle out of the mix, though. Games like Slime Rancher 2 leave the service when they’re done with their early access periods, while other titles just run out of time on their contracts with Game Pass (although some do return at a later date). Here’s everything coming to and leaving Game Pass in October 2025.
Everything Coming To Game Pass In September 2025
The Outer Worlds, Ninja Gaiden, & More
The table below lists every game coming to Game Pass in October 2025, as far as we know at the time of writing. They’re outlined in release order here for convenience of reading, and I’ve also included the Game Pass tiers and platforms they’re expected to be available on.
Of course, the big headlines this month are two major day-one releases: Ninja Gaiden 4 on October 21, and The Outer Worlds 2 on October 29. Ninja Gaiden 4 is the first new mainline game in the beloved hack-and-slash series in over a decade, part of Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja’s wider revival of the franchise.
The Outer Worlds 2 is, of course, the sequel to The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment’s 2019 spacefaring RPG. Although the original game had its flaws, Obsidian has had a lot of time to work out the kinks in its action RPG formula with games like Avowed, so many players have put their hopes in the sequel.
Double Fine’s Keeper, which is due to hit Game Pass on October 17, is another day-one release from a legendary studio. This psychedelic adventure-puzzle game will take you on an emotional journey through an uncanny realm, with a story about the unlikely symbiotic relationship between a sentient lighthouse and a lively seabird. It looks weird and poignant in all the right ways, and I can’t wait to dive into it.
If you’re a fan of dungeon crawling with a little bit of management sim on the side, Moonlighter 2 comes to Game Pass in early access on October 29. Like the original, it’ll cast players as dauntless adventurers who delve deep into perilous dungeons, returning with rare loot to sell in their cozy neighborhood shop. The original Moonlighter was endlessly amusing and incredibly satisfying, so I’m excited to see how its sequel expands.
Everything Leaving Game Pass In September 2025
A Dark Day For Ninja Gaiden Fans
With the good news of Ninja Gaiden 4’s arrival on Game Pass, though, comes some bad news for fans of the franchise: three different Ninja Gaiden games will depart the service on October 1. At present, these are the only games we know of that are scheduled to leave Game Pass in October 2025, but further departures may be announced later in the month.
These are the three games expected to leave Game Pass on October 1:
Ninja Gaiden Σ
Ninja Gaiden Σ2
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge
These three games are all part of the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection available on Game Pass, and comprise remastered versions of the first three games since the series reboot in 2004. If you’re interested in keeping them, you can buy the Master Collection before it leaves Game Pass at a 20% discount for subscribers.
