BHEL delivers new swivel platform with ramp to Samayapuram Mariamman Temple

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Tiruchi, has fabricated and handed over a ‘ramp with swivel platform assembly’ to the Samayapuram Mariyamman Temple.

The structure will replace the existing skywalk installed on the southern side of the temple. The new structure, when installed, will facilitate ease of access to devotees entering the temple for darshan through an inclined ramp instead of steps and can be opened and closed to allow the temple car and other processions to pass through the passage.

The consignment, weighing over 21 tonnes, was handed over to the temple officials by K. Ravindran, General Manager, Maintenance & Services, BHEL, Tiruchi, on the factory premises on Friday.

BHEL Tiruchi has played an active role in repair and renovation of temple cars and bells of various places of worship in the past. So far, the company has completed 1,228 projects, including the temple cars at the famous Kumbakonam, Tiruvarur, Srivilliputhur, Madurai, Avinashi, and Avudayarkoil, according to a BHEL release.
