OpenAI is bringing a new personal assistant in the form of ChatGPT Pulse which will help you with news cards and updates by working overnight. AI tools are adapting to the needs of the users and OpenAI sees ChatGPT becoming a personal assistant that can answer your complex queries but also work behind the scenes 24×7 to keep you in the loop with the latest updates.
ChatGPT Pulse doesn’t sound like a novel idea, and we have so many apps, including Samsung’s Now Brief giving similar sort of information on the phone screen. But OpenAI is not building a product to take on the existing options, it is offering another feature built into the ChatGPT package, and getting more people to spend money. And Pulse could enable its revenue sources in more than a couple of ways.
ChatGPT Pulse: Gateway To OpenAI Ads?
Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI says, Pulse works for you overnight, and keeps thinking about your interests, your connected data, your recent chats, and more. Every morning, you get a custom-generated set of stuff you might be interested in.” And when you read through the usual marketing pitch, this is Altman close to entering the ads arena. Yes, ChatGPT version (probably the free tier) with ads littered around your queries, and the answers from the AI chatbot.
The personalised way to make AI interact with users seems to be the next go-to strategy for most companies. After all, the value in AI offering you service is only appealing when it can go beyond what you are asking and assimilate more relatable information when you might need it.
The New Data Oil
Google and Meta among others have thrived on people’s access and need to personalise their feeds and content. ChatGPT seems like the AI-centric upgrade of this model where OpenAI has the right source to build a business. In fact, the company is reportedly seeking business people to handle this side of the market, and you get a feeling ChatGPT Pulse might have a big say in its reach and popularity. Google’s already pushed the ads narrative for its AI Search mode, so the change is not entirely shocking.
And as we have said before, ChatGPT Pulse becomes a breeding ground for ads in the future, and unless you take the higher tier ChatGPT plans, the company could tempt the free offerings with these conditions. OpenAI could position ChatGPT Go as the ad-free version of its AI chatbot, something other OTT platforms have served in recent years.
