Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott passed for three touchdowns and added a score on the ground during Sunday night’s home game versus theGreen Bay Packers. However, Prescott’s heroics weren’t enough to prevent the hosts from having to settle for a 40-40 tie that put Dallas at 1-2-1 on the season.
Following Sunday’s overtime thriller, first-year Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer made quite a bold statement regarding his QB1.

“I mean, if there’s a better quarterback playing right now than Dak Prescott in the league, I’d love to see him,” Schottenheimer said, as shared by Todd Archer of ESPN.
In total, Prescott completed 31-of-40 pass attempts for 319 yards and the previously mentioned three scores against the Packers. However, the Dallas defense largely looked like a unit that could’ve used current Green Bay pass-rusher Micah Parsons for a third straight game.
According to ESPN stats, the Cowboys began Monday ranked last in the league with an average of 420.5 yards allowed per game and 31st with an average of 33.0 points surrendered per contest. Meanwhile, Prescott ended the weekend leading the NFL with 1,119 passing yards on the season. He’s ranked fourth in the league among qualified players with a 74.1 adjusted QBR, and he tossed a total of six touchdown passes over Dallas’ last three games.
Dak Prescott doesn’t care about his personal stats
“You don’t play the game for ties,” Prescott said after Sunday’s result. “I don’t care about the stats, the ups and downs, the ebbs and flows. I just care about the end result and the win. When you don’t get that right now, it’s tough for me. In 10 years, it’s the first tie I’ve been a part of. It’s hard to wrap my head around it because I know I’d feel a lot worse if it was a loss. But I’m not satisfied. Not that I would be if we’d won. But it’s a weird feeling.”
The Cowboys next play at the New York Jets on Oct. 5. The 0-3 Jets face the 0-3 Miami Dolphins at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on Monday evening.
While Prescott reportedly used a heating pad for his back during the Packers game, it sounds like he’ll be good to go for the showdown with the Jets at MetLife Stadium.
“Everything’s great, yeah,” Prescott said about his health. “Just, I guess, getting older. Just things come up a little bit, but I’m fine.”
