Taylor Swift knows how to poke fun at herself — in a stylish manner.
Swift, 35, channeled her inner director in a playful new promotional video shared via Instagram on Monday, September 29, teasing her upcoming Life of a Showgirl era.
In the clip, the singer got down to business and spoke into a sparkling megaphone, “Alright, we are still rolling; we’re gonna try this again. OK?”
She encouraged her talent to be “elegant” and “luxurious” while posing in front of “the most beautiful pink vinyl [she’s] ever seen.” Swift then hilariously criticized the yet-to-be-revealed model, saying, “What is going on with the posture? It’s giving ‘No, girl,’ not ‘Showgirl!’ What are we doing?”
The camera then cut to Swift herself, throwing glitter against a rose gold vinyl. She posed in a shimmery corset by The Blonds, featuring a strapless neckline, a structured, velvet bodice, a protruding peplum waist and a large jewel in the center. She styled the number with black boyshorts, Christian Louboutin Miss Z heels and a custom Bob Mackie headdress equipped with silver crystals and white feathers.
As showgirl Swift stumbled in her heels and threw more glitter into the air, director Swift told her that she needed more “elegance” and “charm.”
“Not that!” she shouted before whispering to someone off camera, “She’s got cat hair all over her!”
As the director, Swift playfully asked if there was a “school” her protégé could quickly attend to step up her game. “Come on, honey, this is show business!” the Grammy winner quipped.
She then narrated over a clip of herself holding up artwork, “The Life of Showgirl: Exclusive edition only at Target. And, it has a pretty big poster, too!”
“She’s got 4️⃣ days left to rehearse for her big moment… 😂,” Swift captioned the post, noting that her album is dropping on Friday, October 3. “Be the first to get your hands on The Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King Edition on Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer Vinyl only at @target starting 10/3. Select stores open at midnight. While supplies last ❤️🔥.”
Swift previously announced that she’s releasing a limited-edition vinyl version of her album with Target on September 24, named The Crowd Is Your King. For the cover, she posed in a barely-there rhinestone look, that draped off of her shoulders. She teamed the piece with cheeky underwear and a feather-embellished boa.
In another shot, the Grammy winner stunned in a white plume and crystal decorated headdress, which perfectly complimented her smokey eyeshadow and bright red lip. She also teased a shot of her wearing The Blonds corset, as she posed in front of a portrait wall with photos covering the walls.
Swift also announced more editions of her vinyl albums, including the Tiny Bubbles in Champagne collection, the Baby, That’s Show Business version and The Shiny Bug vinyl. Similarly, she released a CD version, which she named It’s Beautiful.
Swift first announced her new album while appearing on an episode of her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” on August 13.
