Robert MacLiam is a psychic, dream analyst, and ESP (extra-sensory perception) presenter who has been practising his craft since the age of 15. He inherited his gift through his mother, a family lineage that sparked his lifelong connection to intuition and energy. He currently lives on Costa Blanca Sur with his wife and young child.

Speaking to Euro Weekly News, Robert tells us, “I’ve never used tarot, and I still to this day use playing cards, interpreting what the cards mean for the person I’m reading for,” Robert explains. Over the years, he has expanded his work to include dream analysis, which he practices daily, as well as ESP presentations. “I used to do a lot of mind-reading shows all over Europe, Ireland, England, Isle of Man in some sold-out shows, Africa, Russia, America, the list goes on. Now, I concentrate mainly on work I like to present in the way of ESP. I still do a lot of playing card reading and dream analysis, but much of what I do now is invite-only. I do have a show coming up in November, but most of my work these days is by invitation.”

Originally from Dublin, Robert first moved to Portugal before settling in Spain, drawn by the country’s vibrant lifestyle, fresh cuisine, and the healthier environment it offered for raising his family. “I’ve always wanted to live here,” he says. “The Spanish lifestyle, the health diet, the environment, it just felt like the right place for me and my family.”

Life in Spain has proven welcoming in many ways. “Integration is the easiest part,” Robert explains. “There are so many expats, and the pressure to learn the language isn’t as intense as in some other countries. The people are great, and it’s easy to feel at home.” Yet he notes bureaucracy can be frustrating. “If you come from England or Ireland, it doesn’t seem as top-heavy there. Here it’s very much the mañana philosophy. You learn to adapt. You’re a guest in someone else’s country, so following protocol is important, it’s respectful.” Robert’s clients come from all walks of life, often seeking guidance on love, relationships, careers, or house moves. “Love is the number one question, relationships fall into that. And then you get asked about career, house moves come into it quite a lot also, particularly if you’re talking about Spain. A lot of people, especially expats, might ask, should I go back to the UK or to wherever they came from, Ireland, Sweden, wherever it happens to be. So, yeah, they’re kind of the mainstay of the questions.” Other times, people just want to know what he feels, and while he finds it amusing, he trusts his intuition, it always guides him in the right direction.

Robert also frequently visits a medium centre in Los Montesinos, where he conducts readings. “A couple of weeks back I was in Los Montesinos and there’s a great medium centre down there. I went down to do a weekend of readings and it was lovely. By and large, people were all lovely, and the energy was fantastic,” he says. These sessions allow him to connect with a community of people who are deeply interested in intuition and guidance, offering a different dynamic than one-on-one readings over the phone.

Even so, skeptics are a regular part of his work, particularly at live shows. “Many times, after a live reading, people will say it was phenomenal, and then you’ll have skeptics saying, ‘Yeah, but he set all those people up.’ Truly, I didn’t, I mean, you can’t set this up. It either works or it doesn’t. Over time, I’ve become comfortable with that. Whether someone believes or not, my job is the same. I do the work, and I trust the process.” Asked what message he would give to people going through difficult times, Robert emphasises the power of the mind. “When people are in mental distress, they often look everywhere for help except the one place that can truly guide them, their own mind. Your mind controls everything you do, and the subconscious is incredibly powerful. If you learn to harness it, feelings of despair or hopelessness can lift quickly.”

Robert’s career has been shaped by decades of experience, global travel, and a dedication to helping others understand themselves. Whether he’s interpreting a card spread for an individual, offering guidance to expats navigating life in Spain, or speaking with high-profile clients overseas, his work is grounded in intuition, discipline, and a desire to make a meaningful impact.

For Robert, life represents a balance between family, personal growth, and a vocation he loves. “I’m raising my family here, pursuing the work I love, and sharing intuition and guidance with anyone who seeks it. That’s what keeps me going.”
