Sex toy sparks NFL flag

A green dildo has been thrown on the field during an NFL match, triggering the broadcast’s flag graphic.

A rogue sex toy thrown on the field fooled everyone during the Bengals dramatic win over the Jaguars on Monday.
In a match that was overshadowed by an ugly injury to Cincinnati star quarterback Joe Burrow, it was the appearance of a sex toy on the field that has also caused a kerfuffle.
One video that has been viewed eight million times on X, showed a sex toy was tossed onto the field before it bounced down the sideline from inside the end zone.

The reason many fans have been left chuckling is that host broadcaster ESPN was also caught out by the sight of the fluoro green object being tossed onto the field.
The broadcast team appeared to mistake the item for a “penalty flag” and flashed up a “flag” graphic at the bottom of its scoreboard.
Referees toss flags onto the field at the completion of plays to show a player has committed a penalty infraction.
The object was thrown on a play where the Bengals scored in the third quarter.
The childish humour had plenty of people snickering on social media.

One person wrote on X: “Best play in football this year”.

The sex toy hooked ESPN producers. Photo: X and @JackMacCFB.
Another wrote: “If they change that button to a neon green “D**do” button it will be the best thing that ever happened sports”.
One person posted: “Omg I was so confused at first my coworker and I were trying to figure out what the flag was”.
It is just another example of the bizarre pandemic of sex toys being tossed onto the field in American sports.

Sex toy pandemic interrupts NFL opener

Following a spate of interruptions at WNBA games, a green sex toy was…

The bigger talking point to emerge from the game was the sad sight of Burrow limping off the field.
As reported by The New York Post, Burrow remained on the ground after a play in the second quarter, when he tried to evade a sack, but was taken to the ground by a Jaguars defender, and grabbed at his left foot.
Trainers tended to Burrow, who did get up under his own power and limped off to the locker room.
He was initially ruled questionable to return before being ruled out during the second half.
Jake Browning took over at quarterback as the Bengals trailed the Jaguars, 17-10, at halftime.

A serious injury to Burrow would be an absolute crusher for a Bengals team looking to leave a playoff-less 2024 campaign in the rearview.
Burrow, the team’s first overall pick in 2020, threw for 43 touchdowns and nine interceptions last year and was named an MVP candidate, an award that eventually went to Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
The former LSU product has battled injuries throughout his young career. He tore his ACL midway through his rookie season and also sustained a wrist injury that sidelined him for the latter half of the 2023 season.
