Umar Namadi, the Jigawa State Governor, signed into law a total of N75 billion supplementary budget.
Recall that the Jigawa State government has presented a N75 billion supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly for consideration. The proposal, which is part of the 2025 Fiscal Year, covers both the state government and the 27 local government councils.
Subsequently, the State House of Assembly on Thursday, 25th September, 2025, passed the supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year.
The legislation followed the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Appropriations at the plenary on Thursday.
Speaking during the signing in ceremony at the government house chamber, Dutse, the Governor said, “Today, we have signed into law the supplementary bill, which is for the State and that of the 27 local governments, a total of N75.1 billion Naira, comprising 58 billion Naira from the state and N17.1 billion from the 27 local governments. This supplementary bill lists, as a result of extra revenue that is put to both the state and the local government and in line with the constitutional provision, this money needs to be appropriated before it is spent. Therefore, the appropriation was approved by the State Executive Council and passed to the State House of Assembly.
“They have completed their own legislative duties, and today we have signed into law. So I want to use this opportunity to really thank the members of the State House of Assembly and the Honourable Speaker for the way they have treated this supplementary bill, this bill they have treated, and the way they have structured it very well. I think this is a sign of a good relationship between the Executive and the Legislative that we are all working together to ensure that we have moved the state to a better height.

“So I want to thank the members of the State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, and also Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for the diligence they have brought us today in the preparation of the bill, which can be signed into law today. I hope this will speed up the implementation of this supplementary bill so that we can gain more evidence of democracy. It is a big logical step.
“Again, today, in our effort to conserve the environment and ensure protection of the environment, we have signed an environmental bill that will ensure sustainable protection of the environment and ensure that people have a very conducive environment. This bill will also help to ensure that we will allow environmental activities in the state. Again, I want to thank the State House of Assembly for the way they are handling all these bills, which are aimed at the progress and development of our state.
“I pray that Allah will give us the ability, the strength, and confidence to implement this appropriation for the benefit of the people of New Jigawa State”, the Governor said
The supplementary budget arose from expected additional revenue accruing to the state from the federation account, aimed at enhancing ongoing projects and programmes across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and other developmental projects.
Provide fiscal support for new and unforeseen expenditure requirements, align public spending with current socio-economic realities and development targets.
