Navratri brings alive the rhythmic beats of Garba, the traditional Gujarati folk dance performed in honour of Goddess Durga during the nine-day festival. In this dance form, people move around a clay pot, or garbha, holding a lamp that symbolises life and creation.
While modern Garba often takes on a festive, Bollywood-inspired vibe, a video of women performing the classical dance has caught attention online for its authentic display of culture and devotion.
Women Perform Garba Without Speakers And Music
The video shared on Instagram shows the women dancing in traditional attire, without any microphones or musical instruments, in a pure celebration of the festival. Unlike modern Garba events featuring loud music or dhol beats, the women relied solely on their voices, claps, and rhythm to bring back the ‘real’ Garba vibe to Navratri.

The rest are all commercial garba, only money-making.”

Navratri celebrations are also evolving in innovative ways. Recently, content creator and actor Viraj Ghelani shared a unique ‘digital Garba’ in which he danced with life-size cutouts of two NRI friends who were unable to attend.
