Ariana Grande has called out Donald Trump in a blistering post on Instagram, accusing the US president of causing “widespread suffering”.
The 32-year-old singer – who voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 and Bernie Sanders in 2020 – criticised Trump’s treatment of immigrants and trans people.
She also addressed MAGA supporters, asking if they are “happier” and if their lives have “gotten better” eight months into Trump’s second term in the White House.
“I want to check in with Trump voters. I have one very genuine question,” she said in an Instagram story re-posted from podcaster Matt Bernstein’s account.
“It’s been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all – has your life gotten better?”
The post continued: ‘Have your groceries gotten cheaper? Has your health insurance premium gone down? Has your work/life balance improved?”
It went on: “Can you take a vacation yet? Are you happier? Has the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?”
Grande’s fans praised her for speaking out and making a political statement.
“Girl, MAGA will go bankrupt trying to buy groceries as long as it means they deported Jorge from Home Depot trying to feed his kids,” one wrote on X.
“I love Ariana Grande for this… She’s right,” another added.
“No matter how Trump performs and goes against constitutional values, most of his supporters will make excuses to still support,” a third posted.
“Ariana firing shots at Trump fans? Bold as hell, queen love when celebs keep it real on the chaos,” someone else commented.
Others were less impressed, with one user writing sarcastically: “Oh thank god. Her silence in the political arena was deafening.”
Another penned: “She’s a singer. Nobody cares about her political opinions.”
Grande has been outspoken in her opposition of Trump’s decisions concerning civil and social rights.
After Trump’s election victory last year, she said she was “holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today”.
When Trump signed an executive order in January to recognize only male and female sexes, LGBTQ+ advocate Grande posted a message that read: “Today is a tough day for our community.
“The incoming administration campaigned on attacking trans people’s lives, healthcare and dignity and we’re bracing ourselves for what these extremists will try to do next.
“No matter what comes, we will protect each other.”
In June, the Wicked star reposted a photo of a sign that read: “Could someone explain which crimes get you deported and which ones get you elected President? It’s so confusing.”
