Delta Makes Major Change To In-Flight Entertainment

Delta is partnering up with YouTube to expand its in-flight entertainment offerings.
SkyMiles Members and customers will soon have ad-free access to a selection of popular YouTube creators, podcasts and music playlists onboard most flights.
Why It Matters
Delta is innovating its in-flight entertainment system to deliver a more personalized experience for travelers, starting with this partnership with YouTube.
The airline looks to differentiate itself in a highly competitive market where premium in-flight experiences is becoming a key battleground.
What To Know
A curated selection of YouTube creators and playlists will be available via Delta Sync Wi-Fi on personal devices and on all seatback screens.
Some of the creators to be featured are prominent YouTuber MrBeast, chef Nick DiGiovanni, author and podcaster Mel Robbins and kids’ channel Mother Goose Club.
Delta said that the YouTube access is now being rolled out across its fleet of more than 930 aircraft.
SkyMiles Members logged in to Delta Sync Wi-Fi on their personal devices will also be able to access a 14-day free preview of YouTube Premium, starting October 1.
The partnership with YouTube was first announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January of this year.
The partnership is part of the airline’s broader rollout of Delta Sync, its next-generation entertainment platform powered by cloud technology.
Unlike traditional seatback systems that offer the same content to everyone, Delta Sync is designed to learn from passenger preferences and deliver more personalized recommendations.
Delta Sync will also display live information about a passenger’s flight, as well as gate and baggage information.
It will also have a “continue watching” feature, which will allow customers to resume content from where they left off if catching a connecting flight.
What People Are Saying
Julieta McCurry, Delta’s vice president of in-flight entertainment, said: “This partnership was born from a simple but powerful insight: our customers love YouTube.”
YouTube’s vice president of product partnerships Miguel Quiroga said: “We’re incredibly proud to bring the best of YouTube and YouTube Premium to the Delta in-flight entertainment experience.”
“Whether it’s on TVs, phones, or now seatback screens, there’s so many ways to experience YouTube’s top creators, culture-defining podcasts, and fan-favorite music content. All of which is made even better with free access to YouTube Premium, so travelers can enjoy all of YouTube and YouTube Music uninterrupted.”
What Happens Next
Delta said that this partnership is the start of a broader transformation to its entertainment offerings, with plans to debut its next-generation Delta Sync seatback system—to be rolled out on selected aircraft in 2026.
