Vice President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), Lawrence Iquaibom, is currently engaged in high-profile international assignments in Forde, Norway.
The former Director of Sports, Akwa Ibom State is to participate in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Coaching and Research Committee meeting scheduled for today.
Iquaibom arrived Forde, Norway yesterday just in time to settle down for the programme that is aimed at improving the coaching of weightlifting match officials.
He has also been appointed as one of the International Technical Officials for the 2025 IWF World Championships slated for October 2nd through 11th in Forde, Norway, also.
Even as he takes on these global responsibilities, Iquaibom was last weekend honoured with the Distinguished International Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 EPRA Leadership and Entrepreneurial Awards ceremony, held at the Regency Banqueting Suite, Tottenham, London.
Iquaibom was recognised for his decades of contributions to sports administration and development, both in Nigeria and internationally.

Speaking after receiving the award, Iquaibom dedicated the recognition to Nigeria’s sports community and reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing the next generation of weightlifting champions.
The EPRA Awards, which celebrate exemplary leaders and innovators making a positive global impact, also honoured other personalities, including:
Lord John Bird MBE – Outstanding Leadership in Social Enterprise
Baroness Sandy Verma – Excellence in Public Service and Governance
Dr. Maria Sanchez – Global Humanitarian Impact Award
Mr. Adewale Johnson – Entrepreneurial Innovation in Business Development
