The Ogun State Government has announced that the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, will receive its first commercial flight on October 7, 2025.
The airport was commissioned on August 15, 2025, after securing an Aerodrome Operational Permit from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The permit confirmed that the facility met the regulatory standards required to begin full commercial operations.
Ogun Airport begins operation
According to a statement, ValueJet will operate twice-weekly flights on the Ogun–Abuja route. Departures from Gateway International Airport are set for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m., arriving in Abuja at 9:45 a.m.
Return flights will leave Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 4:00 p.m. and land in Iperu at 5:15 p.m.
Tickets for the new flights became available on September 25, according to ValueJet, BusinessDay reports.
The airline said:
“They can be purchased online, through travel agents, and at ticket desks at the Gateway International Airport.”
ValueJet’s Managing Director, Capt. Omololu Majekodunmi, said the launch aligns with the airline’s expansion strategy.
“As part of our programme, we are serving the growing demand in Ogun while offering an alternative to Lagos and Ibadan for passengers in the Gateway International Airport catchment area,
Majekodunmi said the airport is positioned to serve both passenger travel and cargo logistics.
He added that it provides relief to travelers who previously relied on congested airports in Lagos and Ibadan.
He also highlighted that ValueJet’s growth in the past three years has been driven by customer loyalty, strategic partnerships, and a strong focus on safety and service quality.
Majekodunmi said:
“Our operations from Gateway International Airport mark a milestone not just for the airline but for Ogun State as well. We look forward to connecting more Nigerians through this modern facility.”

The Ogun State Government described the commencement of ValueJet flights as a significant economic breakthrough, Punch reports.
Officials said the development will stimulate trade, investment, and tourism while improving connectivity for residents and businesse.
Air peace, United Nigeria airlines release new ticket prices
