Umrah, a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, is an important aspect of Islamic tenets. And if you’re planning to travel for Umrah this year, there are a few new rules you need to take note of. From now on, Umrah visas will only be approved if travellers can provide proof of confirmed hotel bookings and arranged transport before submitting their applications. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah says this step is being implemented to control pilgrim movement, prevent fraudulent accommodation deals, and improve crowd management in Mecca and Medina during peak seasons. Many tour packages already bundle this with accommodation. Digital Verification: All bookings must be uploaded or linked to the Nusuk platform, which now acts as a one-stop hub for visa applications, accommodation checks, and permit scheduling.
