GATE 2026 Registration: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has extended the registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026). Candidates can now apply without a late fee until October 6, 2025 through the official portal – gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Those who miss this window can still apply by paying a late fee until October 9, 2025. As mentioned on the official website, these dates may change if required.
Meanwhile, IIT Guwahati has also announced a change in the exam schedule. GATE 2026 was originally planned for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. Since the UPSC Engineering Services Exam (ESE) is also scheduled on February 8, the GATE paper on that day will likely be shifted to either February 6 or February 16 to avoid a clash. The revised timetable will be uploaded soon on the official website.
The exam will be conducted in two shifts each day – the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Results will be declared on March 19, 2026.
GATE is open to graduates and final-year students from Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, and even Arts/Humanities streams. Importantly, there is no age limit for appearing in the exam, making it accessible to all eligible candidates.
