Acting President of the Re-public of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is in Astana, Kazakhstan, at the invitation of President H.E. Mr. Kassym Jomart Tokayev, accompanied by the members of the high-level delegation, visited Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) this morning.

First, the Senior General and party were welcomed by Chair-man of the Management Board of AIFC Mr. Bakhtiyar Tleubekov and officials. The Senior General and party were conducted round the AIFC and they asked for more information from relevant officials of the departments.

Afterward, the management board chair and officials and responsible persons of industry and trade-related companies of Kazakhstan reported on points of the AIFC, investments and technological innovations in the rapidly developing technological sector, establishment of special economic zones in Kazakhstan, invitation of investors and opportunities for them, means to ensure safe and secure working environment, apart from technology-related functions, current trade activities between Myanmar and Kazakhstan and trade pro-motion programs, and industry-wise and trade-wise undertakings.

They then visited the Museum of Trust in the AIFC, and asked for more information from the reports of officials.

Located in Astana, the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) is a financial and investment service provider, inaugurated on 5 July 2018. Development of the financial sector of Kazakhstan and making overtures for regional investments are the aims of opening the AIFC. It is a financial service provider linked with Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), extend-ing its global network of cooperation from Central Asia to Middle East, China and Mongolia.

In the evening on 27 September, the Senior General and delegation observed Baiterek Monument and Observation Tower in Astana and urban development of the capital.

First, the Senior General and delegation arrived at Baiterek Monument and observed the monument before inquiring about salient points clarified by officials.

The monument observation tower is an historical landmark symbolizing the relocation of the capital of Kazakhstan to Astana in 1997 and not only represents the symbol of the country and modern architecture but also the birthplace of new life for the people of Kazakhstan. It is 97- metre (318-feet) high and has a shape of an enormous glass ball lifted by 500 pillars. It looks like a tower made of gold at first glimpse from various angles. The design of the monument was drawn on a handkerchief by Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first president of Kazakhs-tan during a plane trip and the handkerchief has been preserved at the museum of the first president as historical heritage. The design and symbols of the tower are closely connected with traditional beliefs of nomadic people and Baiterek means the tree of life in Kazakh myths. According to the myths, a mythical colossal bird known as Samruk dwelt on the tree and laid a gold egg, which re-presented the sun and gave vitality of life and rays of hope. In this way, the people of Kazakhstan portray the struggle between the good and evil and changes of seasons day or night. The 22-metre long golden ball placed at the top of Baiterek represents the mythical sun. The monument was built as the cultural epicenter. It has an aquarium, a cafe and a culture centre at 4.5-meter depth. The scenes of the capital can be enjoyed at the observation tower on the 34th floor, where the golden ball is located. In 2003, a prayer was held by 17 religions at the monument for the first time. Baiterek is an amazing building combining culture, myths and modern development of Kazakhstan and a symbol of peace. Visitors to the monument usually hold prayers in the monument.

Then, the Senior General and delegation viewed the urban development of Astana.
