A New York Giants fan labelled the new ‘Phillies Karen’ has drawn more criticism after claiming she was unaware that she stole a Patrick Mahomes souvenir from a child.

After their win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium last week, Chiefs quarterback Mahomes was seen trying to give his arm sleeve to a young Kansas City supporter in the crowd, only for a nearby adult to cruelly snatch it out of their hand.

The boy was stunned by what had occurred as he realized the gift had been stolen from him. ‘Yo, she just stole that from me,’ he said to someone off camera.

Footage of the shocking moment quickly went viral on social media, with users drawing comparisons between the Giants ‘thief’ and the baseball fan who infamously stole a home-run ball from a young boy in Philadelphia earlier this month.

Yet amid the controversy, New York native Nina Miller has identified herself as the culprit online – and insisted she thought Mahomes was giving her the souvenir.

Miller initially defended her actions in a video on TikTok – claiming she had every right to take the arm sleeve herself – before backtracking on that stance and issuing an apology to the boy, whose name is ‘Joey’, in another clip. She also claims to have found out that it was Joey’s 10th birthday on the night.

Bizarre moment Jaguars coach Liam Coen starts screaming at 49ers coordinator after victory

‘Guys, I just want to talk to you for one minute from my heart,’ Nina said in the follow-up TikTok video. ‘At the game, with all the noise and all the excitement, I honestly thought that Pat Mahomes was giving me the headband. I reached for it without thinking.

‘Later I found out that it was meant for that little boy for his 10th birthday. When I found out I felt horrible, because I don’t want to ruin anyone’s little time at the game and ruin their little birthday.

‘To the young boy, I’m sorry that I ruined your moment. You should have had your moment for your birthday.’

Fans did not waste any time picking holes in Nina’s apology and excuse, arguing that it was clear Mahomes was not looking in her direction and that Joey had the sleeve in his hand first.

‘Mahomes was NOT looking at you dawg,’ one user commented, ‘bro was looking point blank at that lil kid’.

Another wrote: ‘He literally looked at you and said “you took that out of my hands”’

A third put: ‘honestly? you HONESTLY thought that? he was making eye contact with that kid, you took it right out of that kid’s hand.’

‘Literally saw it was in his hand,’ concluded a fourth.

This is disgusting and completely unfair to this young kid. No adult should ever steal from a child.pic.twitter.com/hxeuKFcWwf

While one said sarcastically: ‘“I’m sorry I got caught.”’

Nina went on to reveal that she has been targeted with ‘cruel’ messages online over the incident, while stressing that she now wants to do the right thing and send the memento to Joey if she receives the right contact details.

‘I just wanna address one more thing. I’ve seen the comments, some of them are cruel – even hard,’ she continued.

‘But I’m human guys, and I make mistakes. I’m not perfect, but I’m also a mom and I’m also a Christian, and I’m admitting when I’m wrong and I’m trying to admit what I did wrong to make it right.’

Nina rounded off her video by saying: ‘Sorry to everyone, But I’m sorry most of all to you, son… I’m sorry to Joey. I’m sorry I ruined your day, it wasn’t my intention. I swear it was not my intention, I apologize deeply.’
